Trade Training Opportunities for Women – Lower North Island
There are more opportunities out there than we sometimes hear about. Miss Auto Pro has been involved with the UCOL committee that works toward connecting students, both prospective and existing, with opportunities in trade training and workplace placement. We have a solid commitment to ensuring women understand and don’s miss out on the value of what offerings are out there to build exciting futures in the trades.
I wanted to write a short piece on what is currently on offer at the UCOL in terms of training grants and scholarships. Please follow the links to fully inform yourself of how and where to apply for the grants outlined below. I feel strongly that the more knowledge we gain the better the range of choices we have to choose from.
Women in Trades Grant:
The grant aims to make the trades accessible to more women by increasing and retaining women in the trades training … Be enrolled in a UCOL Trades course, full-time or part-time

Women in Trades Scholarship:
Sixteen UCOL students received a total of $11,500 through the institute’s first Women in Trades scholarship.
National Scholarships and Resources:
New Horizons for Women Trust: 2021 applications closed … Next funding round is March 2022 Women in Trades Grant: The grant is awarded once per semester.

So that is the current round up for at least Women in Trades Training for the Manawatu, Whanganui, Horowhenua and Wairarapa.
Stay tuned for more updates from other areas in the country and what’s on offer there!
Cheers
Margit
